Fisherman’s Rest is designed to suit the needs of families, groups and the individual visitor offering five various types of accommodation.

Fisherman's Rest consists of:

  • Four bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom
  • A lounge, a dining room and a kitchen for self-catering groups.
  • The Pool Side Cottage has two bedrooms a bathroom a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen.
  • The Woodland Cottage consists of 2 en-suite rooms and a third with a separate bathroom and a small kitchen.
  • The Bush Camp Hides all have double beds, bathrooms and offer magnificent views across they valley.
  • The Teahouse has two bedrooms a bathroom, a small lounge and a dining room with a fire place.
  • There is also an additional bathroom off the lounge with stunning views over the Shire Valley.

Finally, for the more adventurous visitor, there is the Campsite consisting of permanent tents and is totally secluded within the nature reserve, some of the tents even offer the luxury of raised beds. You will also be able to hire two-man tents, sleeping bags and sleeping mats.

Fisherman’s Rest boasts a magnificent swimming pool situated two thousand feet up the escarpment, offering magnificent views over the Shire Valley. There is also full broadband access and is an excellent place for conferences, workshops or just a peaceful retreat.

Also available here is a café overlooking the grounds and beyond to the Rift Valley in the perfect location to relax and enjoy a cup of traditional tea or coffee.

Fisherman’s rest will offer memorable trips, ranging from day trips to the famous Lake of Stars to tours of the national parks and wildlife reserves and also offer the opportunity for guests to help in the surrounding communities in a wide range of projects such as schools, clinics, prisons, orphanages, churches and villages.

Our opinion

In our opinion this is a fantastic place to visit if you enjoy getting involved in charity work and giving to the less fortunate communities or even for peaceful relaxation. It is situated in a fantastic location where you will get to see plenty of wildlife. Although some of the accommodation is basic, it is all part of the fun and has everything you will need to have an enjoyable holiday.
